 What’s your snack of choice?

I feel like I might be letting the world in on a secret by saying: frozen banana. It tastes like ice cream and is delicious on toast with peanut butter!

What brought you to Common Spark?

I met Michelle many years ago when I had just started working full-time - she was kind enough to say “yes” to a random coffee chat request from a recent grad! Michelle was incredibly generous with her time and attention over the years, providing sage advice during some key junctures in my career. Just over a year ago, I attended the first Energy (in)Equity training, which was an amazing experience that re-sparked (ha!) my interest in Common Spark’s work. The stars have been slowly aligning ever since! I am especially excited to start my role as a facilitator for Energy (in)Equity as a wonderful full circle moment. Come join me on July 17th to learn how to intentionally implement the Jemez Principles in your everyday work (or join a Foundations course on June 5-7).

What are you most looking forward to this year?

I’m really excited to dive deeper into my own relationship with race, inclusivity, and community and to explore how these concepts show up in the clean energy and climate landscape. I am grateful to be supported by some wonderful teachers, community members, and books (shout-out to Awakening Together: the Spiritual Practice of Inclusivity & Community) in my personal journey and supported by my equally wonderful coworkers and racial justice/facilitation experts in my work journey.

Outside of work, Jade enjoys learning how to play guitar, appreciating local music & art, and reading too many books at the same time.

What does a just clean energy future mean to you?

This is a future in which all, not just some, benefit from our collective efforts and investments in tackling climate change. This is a future in which we all reach the other shore - and we all can have a voice in deciding how we get there. This is a future that depends on our collective response right now - and whether we can take this rare opportunity to reimagine the status quo through transformative and just climate action.

What song / album instantly puts you in a good mood?

I am writing this mere days after Beyoncé released Cowboy Carter and after many weeks of listening to the single “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM” on-repeat. So I will have to bow to the Queen on this one.

Common Spark Consulting not only works externally with our clients and partners, but we also strive to work inwardly, recognizing that we must internalize the care, thoughtfulness, and intention we hope to represent as individuals and an organization. The Thought Library is where we share our ideas and thoughts, where we are at right now, on topics and issues that we hope will spark conversation for a brighter, more inclusive energy future.
