Mahal Miles (she/her/siya) brings a mindful and deeply curious lens to Common Spark, drawing from her experience across various stages of the energy policy cycle—including supporting research that informs policy change, policy regulation and compliance, and evaluation.

In her most recent role as a Regulatory Analyst at San Jose Clean Energy, she ensured compliance with regulatory requirements, monitored proceedings, supported the preparation of strategic comments for regulatory dockets, and managed systems for tracking regulatory impacts. Her experience spans the private sector, where she worked in energy efficiency evaluation, as well as public health research, refining her qualitative analytical skills.
Her experience has instilled in her a deep commitment to evidence-based decision-making, equitable and inclusive and accessible design, and empowering process change within the energy industry.
Mahal graduated from Oregon State University with a B.S. in Managerial Economics and a minor in Public Health Management & Policy, with a certificate in the Medical Humanities.

Growing up, Mahal’s grandmother, Mamang, would end every visit with the words, "Do good and take care." As an adult, Mahal has embraced this advice by striving to do good in the world, prioritizing care and compassion in all aspects of her life.
