Building Better Local Zero Emission Policy Together

Common Spark, with Ember Strategies, facilitated San Francisco Environment Department (SFE) stakeholder convenings to develop and finalize New Construction and Existing Building (non-residential) zero emission building standards. Over the course of three meetings for each topic (New Construction and Existing Buildings) plus a public workshop, and working with building owners, managers, architects, environmental advocates, tenants rights groups, and city staff, Common Spark helped stakeholders navigate myriad considerations in developing an agreeable start date for the ordinance and necessary exceptions, particularly during the phasing-in of the requirements. Recommendations were adopted into local policy.
